Pueblo del Rio

Glorify the LORD with me;   let us exalt his name together. Ps. 34:3 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.  The water I will give him will become a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here again.” This afternoon we spent time with the people of Pueblo del Rio.  Two years ago there was no church building or a pastor in this village.   God has done much in this little village.  In February 2012 the church was built.  In February 2013 the well was constructed.  How exciting that the place the people come to get clean drinking water is right next to the church where they can find THE living water! On the church wall you will see in Spanish “Not I, But Christ.”  That same quote is on …

Ground Breaking

Reading Hosea 10:12 Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground,   for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. The  prophet uses the example of farming to help his audience understand preparing the ground of their hearts for a fruitful crop.  Finney said: “To break up the fallow ground therefore, is to bring the mind into such a state that it is fitted to receive the Word of God. Sometimes your hearts get matted down, hard and dry, until there is no such thing as getting fruit from them until they are broken up, and mellowed down, and fitted to the Word. It is this softening of the heart, so as to make it feel the truth, which the prophet calls break up your fallow ground.” This morning we will participate in the Ground Breaking of the Jerry Falwell Center for Ministry Training.   A ceremony will take place where the ground will be loosened symbolically – not for farming – but …
