Under Construction

In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength…Is 30:15 I was living with no margin.  Julie and I were returning from  Guatemala with a late flight to Roanoke, VA.    We were due in Charlotte, NC the next morning for the opening session of the 2013 She Speaks Conference.  There we were:  tired, worn out, and long road trip ahead of us. Scared: A Novel on the Edge of the World

Scared will have you hooked from the opening pages.   A New York Times Reporter discovers a new world and a new perspective as he  confronts suffering in a forgotten village in Africa. Tom Davis, CEO of Children’s Hope Chest, is the author of Scared.  Tom has worked amongst the orphans of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Africa.   I had the privilege of recently attending three of Tom’s sessions at the Proverbs 31 She Speaks Conference. Tom and his wife, Emily, have seven children, including two daughters adopted from Russia.  The compelling and often disturbing scenes in this book are based on true stories the author has encountered on his world-wide travels caring for widows and orphans.   Add Scared to your last minute summer reading today!
