Gifts Money Can’t Buy: Flexibility

This Mickey Mouse Ornament from Kyle and Lauren – who now live in Orlando -remind me that things are changing in our household and I need to be flexible. “Breakfast!  A Christmas Breakfast!  A stinkin’ breakfast!  No, we can’t do that!”  About a month ago I was jarred into the reality that things were not going to stay the same in our family.  Now, with my head I knew that – but I had not let my heart in on the secret that this included Christmas, too.   I found myself confronted with the reality that jobs, schedules, ‘grown up’ life for our adult children was changing things.  When our traditional sweet potatoes with marshmallows meal was not working out – my husband suggested a breakfast.  Ugh!  Our son, Matthew, heard my distress and said “Mama, what you need is a little perspective.”  And, then some woman that looks a lot like me said,  “I don’t want perspective – I want tradition!” Oh – my – did the Lord have to get a hold of me …

Kingdom prayers for my family

I am part of a huddle group that is going through the book “Building a Discipleship Culture.” We were challenged to incorporate the prayer found in Matthew 6:9-13 into our regular prayer time throughout the week.  I shared this prayer in our Bible Study… some of the ladies wanted me to post it… Our Father in Heaven hallowed be your name. Father, Daddy, you are worthy!  You are King.   Wonderful is your name. Your Kingdom come… your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Your ways- Your rule- Your authority in my life – my mind- my actions- in our home- in ministry.  Father may your kingdom advance in our family and marriage. Give us this day our daily bread. Father – you are King.  You are able.  Thank you for the money for Guatemala. I pray for the rest of team to get their support.   For the well…. house… we want to build on the mission field … Lord, we need your help.  Father,  your kingdom come your will be done. …
